Korean Air

Korean Air is the Korean flag carrier and a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance. With regular service to some 125 cities in 45 countries around the globe, Korean Air is a major player among large international airlines. They are also the largest Asian airline operating in the Americas, offering flights from more cities in America to more cities in Asia than any other airline.

Korean Air lists dogs, cats, and birds as potential candidates for travel aboard their aircraft, so long as all requirements are met. Excess baggage fees apply for all animals being carried aboard their aircraft.

  • Travelers are reminded that every country has different rules and regulations governing the acceptance and transportation of animals. It is strongly recommended that you contact the consulate, embassy, or government authority for any country (or countries) you will be visiting to ensure that you have met all entrance requirements.
  • Space for pet travel is limited. Please call before you travel to confirm a space for your pet.
  • Other animals such as rabbits, hamsters, and snakes are not allowed aboard any Korean Air flight.
  • Fierce dogs, as defined by the Korean Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and/or any animal exhibiting aggressive behavior will not be accepted for travel in the cabin or as checked baggage. A list of breeds considered to be fierce dogs can be found on the Korean Airlines website or on the website of the Korean Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
  • Korean Air will not accept any animals which are medicated, violent, foul-smelling, sick, or pregnant.

If you are unable to travel with your pet

If your pet will be travelling unaccompanied, Korean Air Cargo may be able to help. It is important to note that any pet entering or leaving Korea should have documentation which is considered equivalent to an EU pet passport (such as a microchip for easy identification, as well as any required vaccination and health documentation). Any animal without the proper documentation may face quarantine.

Pets may not be accepted on flights operated by codeshare partners. It is strongly recommended that you contact any codeshare partners or other airlines directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
