Air New Zealand is the national flag carrier of New Zealand and a proud member of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline network. Among their many accolades, Air New Zealand lays claim to one of the most technologically advanced and fuel efficient fleets of aircraft in operation anywhere in the world today. From their central hub in Auckland, they offer regular service to some 57 cities in 14 countries, including 27 destinations within New Zealand.
As with most island nations, there are strict rules governing the admission of animals to the country. To begin with, you must have permission from the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries. You must satisfy all requirements, including veterinary certification (heath and vaccination records). Also, you should know that there is a mandatory quarantine period for any animal entering New Zealand from any country other than Australia. The quarantine period will depend on the country of origin, and the documentation presented before and at the time of arrival. Knowing the process is your best defense. Keep in mind that this is not a quick process. Be sure that you have researched this well in advance of travel to make it as easy as possible for you and your animal companion. For more information, here is a link to the Ministry for Primary Industries website: Click Here.
Air New Zealand will accept pets (dogs, cats, and small caged birds) as checked baggage on most domestic flights within New Zealand. Any other types of pet, or any larger animals, must be transported as manifest cargo freight. On international flights, all animals must travel as manifest cargo.
|CARRIER SIZE||Air New Zealand does not accept animals in the cabin of their aircraft.||
Size will depend on the size of the pet, the required carrier, and the aircraft you will be travelling in.

They do advise that arrangements should be made in advance and that all animal transports must be prepaid at the time of booking.
