Qantas

Qantas is Australia's largest airline and a proud member of the oneworld® airline alliance. They currently offer regular flights to some 80 destinations in 20 countries. Their flight network extends around the globe-serving major centers in North America, South America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and throughout the South Pacific.

Australia has very strict rules governing the admission of animals to the country. If you are planning to bring your pet with you, you should be advised that a mandatory quarantine period is strictly enforced to prevent the introduction of rabies, as well as other diseases and/or parasites. The length of the quarantine period will depend on the country of origin. Cats and dogs travelling from Canada or the United States (excluding Hawaii) fall into the same category, and must complete a mandatory 180 day quarantine period. In some cases, up to 150 days of the quarantine period may be served in the country of origin, with the remaining 30 days being served in Australia.

For complete information regarding bringing cats and dogs (and other pets) to Australia, please contact the Australian Government's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry (DAFF). Here is a link to their website: Click Here. Please note that their website explicitly states that all dogs and cats must complete a minimum 30 day period in Australian quarantine. There are no exceptions to this rule.

On international flights, Qantas will allow pets to travel in the cargo hold of the aircraft only. Certified service animals may be permitted to travel in the passenger cabin with prior approval and proper documentation. For domestic flights within Australia, small animals may be accepted as checked baggage; for international flights animals will be accepted as manifest cargo (freight) only.
