airberlin will allow small cats and dogs to travel in the cabin of the aircraft, so long as all travel requirements are satisfied. Other animals, who do not meet the criteria for in-cabin transport, may be permitted to travel in the cargo hold of the airplane. Reservations should be made in advance for all pet travel.
Fees for travelling with pets will vary depending on whether your flight is considered a short, medium, or long-haul flight. The routes are defined as follows:
Short and medium-haul - All domestic German and European flights including the Russian Federation (to the west of the Urals and Caucasus), flights between Europe and North Africa, Turkey, Cyprus, the Canary Islands, the Azores & Madeira.
Long-haul - Flights between Europe and parts of the Russian Federation (to the east of the Urals), Central Asia, the Far East, the Pacific, North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, the south of Africa, the eastern Mediterranean region (Israel, Syria, and Lebanon), the Gulf States, Iran, and Iraq.

airberlin only lists travel options for pets travelling in-cabin or as checked baggage. If your pet will be travelling unaccompanied, please call them directly to discuss their policies and any options that may be available to you. You may need to make arrangements with another airline.
Pets may not be accepted on interline flights or flights operated by codeshare partners. It is strongly recommended that you contact any codeshare partners or other airlines directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
