Iberia is Spain's flagship airline and a proud member of oneworld® alliance. From their main hub in Madrid, they fly to over 100 destinations in some 40 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North America, and South America. They also offer more flights between Europe and Latin America than any other airline.

Iberia will accept pets in the cabin of the aircraft or as checked baggage in the cargo hold, provided all requirements for travel have been met. They strongly encourage anyone who is planning to travel with a pet to call their Service Center well in advance of travel.

Fees for pet travel will depend on the point of departure and the destination.

Maximum carrier size will depend on the size of the animal.

  • It is strongly recommended that you contact the consulate, embassy, or government authority for any country (or countries) you will be visiting to ensure that you have met all entrance requirements.
  • Iberia does not permit the carriage of weasels (ferrets, pine martens, etc) on any of their flights.
  • Space for pet travel is limited. Please call before you travel to ensure that your animal friend will be able to travel with you.
  • Iberia strongly advises anyone travelling with a pet to contact their Booking Office early to obtain all necessary information and authorization.

If your pet will be travelling unaccompanied, Iberia's cargo service (IAG Cargo) may be able to help. Please make sure you contact them well in advance of travel and speak with one of their service agents. See link below.

Codeshare flights

Pets may not be accepted on flights operated by codeshare partners. It is strongly recommended that you contact any codeshare partners or other airlines directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
