American Airlines is one of the largest and most established airlines in the United States. They are also a founding member of the oneworld® alliance, which has brought together 12 of the world's leading airlines and around 30 affiliate airlines.
Currently, American Airlines will accept only cats and dogs for in-cabin travel and as checked baggage. For any other type of pet, it is recommended that you contact American Airlines Cargo. Pets travelling in-cabin are accepted on a first-come basis and a reservation is required, as space is limited. Checked pets do not require a reservation.
The maximum number of pet carriers on any given flight is seven (for those flights accepting pets).
Pet carriers are limited to one per ticketed passenger and will count as either a carry-on bag or a personal item.

They comply with all U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations and they offer shipping options for a wide range of warm-blooded and cold-blooded animals.
Shipping rates will vary depending on the points of origin and destination, the type of animal being shipped, and the dimensions and/or weight of the carrier.
Pets may not be accepted on flights operated by codeshare and interline partners. American Airlines strongly suggests contacting any codeshare partners or other oneworld® Alliance partners (or affiliate airlines) directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
